Can’t Help Falling In Love ~ Ingrid Michaelson.
My Father’s Father ~ The Civil Wars
If some soul(yes,I DO believe all people are in possession of one of these) were to stumble across my tumblr page and compare my posts with the blogs I follow; they’d be in for some confusion. I post rather Biblical and conservative things for someone who follows anti-theists and liberals. I understand the apparent hypocrisy in observing these truths. But I assure you,it’s not because I follow where the wind blows. I am a child of God,firstly. Secondly,I’m a Calvinist which,in my opinion,is just a synonym for the first xD. Oh,and I’m an American, and a staunchly conservative one at that :). Why do I follow those whose beliefs are in direct contradiction with my own? I want to know my opponents sides and arguments from their perspective, whether I find it rational or not. I am not here to slander but to observe. I pray that I am diligent in my findings. Just a few thoughts for my single digit number of follower(s) :). Of course, controversial though it may be,I will loudly proclaim Soli Deo Gloria for as long as the Lord has decreed it ;D!
The Potter’s Freedom ~ Dr. James R. White. ;)
“Son, whatever weakens your reasoning, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes away your relish for spiritual things; in short, if anything increases the authority and power of the flesh over the Spirit, then that to you becomes sin, however good it is in itself.”
~Susanna Wesley
Enjoying the beauty of iTunes University. So many free lectures. Getting in gear! Yeaaaaa baby ;)!
Being called a budding theologian is somewhat of embarrassment. Now,for someone not prone to much embarrassment,it’s stifling. I’ve always prided myself on NOT having an inherent sense of being consciously aware of the societal acceptances and no-nos. Ah,but that’s just it,isn’t it? I’ve “prided” myself. Pride is a corrosive thing and evidence of its destructible qualities has just been lain before you and I’s eyes. Is it my pride that prevents me from being appreciative? I,from my own perspective, can not see it. And as for being a “theologian-in-training”,I will now own to the tiny fact that I’ve made no Scriptural or theological references at ALL in this post. Such a misguided but well-meaning compliment. Don’t you think? I wish to be set apart for Christ but I’m forever at odds with my sin nature and am coming to the burning realization that it hits you hardest when least you expect. But what is my complaint to that of those who grieve the deaths of loved ones or martyrs who are willing sacrifices for the cause of Christ? Little or none. I must throw aside my pride and be given to a Christ-like humility. I pray for guidance and I seek His favor. Lord, let grace be given me.
How fleeting is time. How evasive the hours in which a day make. There will come a time when we will no longer be able to flee or evade time’s gripping hold. The end will come on us all and our lack of readiness has no bearings on the swiftness of its blows. But she was ready and willing to be committed wholly and eternally to her Groom. Her Kinsman Redeemer had called her home and she went forward with the joyous hope of being one with her Creator. But what of her beloved, their precious children and countless family members and friends? Philippians 1:21,For to me,to live is Christ and to die is gain. Oh how true this rings for the believer! Our time here on earth is treasured and valued. We are to live as Christ,to be Christ-like. Mrs. Sproul lived as Christ for the glory of Christ. But our reward is in heaven,so for us to live is Christ but TO DIE IS GAIN. Death, for those called by the grace of God alone,is the climax. We live as Christ for Christ so that we may gain a death that reunites us with Christ. Mrs. Sproul finished her journey here on earth and is now enjoying the fruits of her labour. She has gained an eternal seat by her Father’s side. And for that,we can rejoice. We weep not with sorrow but with joy, knowing she has fulfilled her primary purpose with grace and humility. May her loved ones reflect on continuing their need to live as Christ. May this trial call them to desire God with more passion than before so that their separation from her will encourage them further in their battle for Christ. Your legacy here on earth,Mrs. Sproul,is one of grace, humility and a burning love for Christ. Your passing will serve as a reminder for us to continue living as Christ so that like you,we may gain a righteous death. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for living Soli Deo Gloria and now,you are doing so Coram Deo ;). We rejoice with you!
Too many times I’ve come across those who revel in excessive tomfoolery. You know, the ones who think it liberating to waste away the precious few brain cells they have? You are the beacon of hope for the future. Remember, however small your contribution to the MTV stereotype is,realize that whatever the size, your actions do have an impact. Your outright refusal to properly spell and punctuate DOES matter. Granted,we all are prone to error and such is the human condition. Even now,as I’m writing,I know that I probably have fallen victim to error’s unavoidable grasp many times, but at least I tried. That is all I ask. That you try. You are far more capable than you allow yourself to be. Why indulge in ignorance when you can grow in knowledge? Some may argue: I have a right to express myself! Whether it is through poorly spelt words or otherwise is my concern and no one else’s! But is this,in any way,a logical approach? It is true that we all have our individual likes and dislikes, our vices, our opinions;but what happens when these idiosyncrasies bleed into the development of society? What happens when the same person who doesn’t know how to compose a proper sentence is teaching the next generation’s English classes? What will happen when the person who forsook those “abhorrent” intellectual endeavors for a life of self-indulgence is a member of Congress? Why do you think that half of the government policies passed nowadays seem far-fetched and ill-conceived? So yes,the pursuit of ignorance is my concern. The steady decline of education has long been in motion and the curtain call is not far off in the distance. Tear yourself away from the fabric of the majority. Realise that in gaining knowledge your horizons will expand and with the expansion of your knowledge,it is my hope that you’ll use your newfound discretion for the
betterment of man. Don’t fall prey to the allure of ignorance but claim dominion over it. For if you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.
